Revolutionizing ADAS Jobs: How openOBD Streamlines Windscreen Replacement

We asked ourselves how we could use openOBD to speed up ADAS jobs for windscreen replacement companies. After some careful consideration and thorough research, here's what we did:

  • First, we spoke directly with the technicians who replace windscreens. We wanted to understand their daily challenges and identify specific areas where automation could provide significant assistance. During these discussions, it became clear that one of their primary needs was a fast pre-scan process. This process would ideally include automated report generation and the ability to save these reports directly to their back-office systems. By meeting this need, we could significantly reduce the time required for initial diagnostics and documentation, thereby speeding up the entire replacement process.
  • Another crucial part of the workflow that could benefit from automation was the calibration target setup. Proper calibration is essential for ADAS systems to function correctly, and setting up these targets manually can be time-consuming and prone to error. To address this, we needed to write integrations with RMI databases, which would allow for a more streamlined and accurate setup process. By automating this aspect, we could ensure that the calibration targets are set up quickly and correctly, reducing downtime and improving overall efficiency.
  • Finally, after the calibration has been performed, a post-scan is necessary to verify that everything is functioning as expected. This step is crucial for ensuring the quality and safety of the ADAS systems. By incorporating a post-scan process into our solution, we can provide technicians with a final confirmation that the system is calibrated correctly and ready for use.

With openOBD, we created a comprehensive proof of concept that addresses both static and dynamic calibration. This solution not only speeds up the ADAS jobs for windscreen replacement companies but also enhances the accuracy and reliability of the entire process.
